Open to all – A vibrant community of like-minded people who have a thirst for personal development and enjoy exploring ideas through open discussion. Each month we have a different guest speaker on a range of subjects; some theory based and some on practical.
If you like exploring your mind and learning new things then this is the group for you. It’s an informal mix of people who come along for many different reasons; some for learning, others to meet and chat, to experience a practical session, to have time to work on something for themselves or for a night out in great company.
We’d love to see you there next time.
If you have a Lifetalk in you, then We’d like to hear from you. Contact me
As we are a “not for profit” Company, any profit we make from LifeTalks goes back into supporting communities here in Cornwall. Please help us spread the word so that we can grow the group and help even more people.
LifeTalks March 20th
Andy Coote – Appreciating the Positive in Order to Develop
Do you get caught up in problem solving?
Is there a culture of blame where you work or live?
Do you feel that sometimes it is the symptoms not the causes that get addressed?
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an approach that looks for and builds on what IS working and not on what isn’t. It seeks to define a positive question and then to answer it with actions that (in the words of the Johnny Mercer song) Accentuate the Positive. It comes out of the world of Emotional Intelligence and empathetic leadership.
The benefit of an approach that doesn’t seek to blame or find scapegoats is that those who can help to improve the situation can do so without fear of consequences. Thus, it brings greater creativity and ideas to bear on efforts to find improvement and ensures that the solution is one that is transparent to all and thus easier to gain buy in.
Andy Coote will bring AI to Life Talks on 20th March, taking you through the principles and the basic method with exercises you can try out.
This is not just a single talk, though. Andy will be launching a new AI Group here in Cornwall.
This will be an opportunity for a select group to meet 8 times during 2018 in order to define a question they want to explore and then use AI to positively ‘Dream, Design and Action’ ideas that they bring forward.

How it started –
Amanda Hudson was one of the founder members back in 2009 and is still hosting the group today. Amanda say’s “My dream is that the group will continue to grow in numbers so we have a community or people interested in nurturing themselves and others. As the community grows we will be able to have access to further trainings and guest speakers from afar. This way we will all benefit from the shared knowledge within the room but also from much further afield’. Lifetalks is all for collaborative work and community in Cornwall. We have a wealth of highly skilled people here on our doorstep. Lets get to know our neighbours so that we can all use our skills in the best way possible for as many people as possible”.
